Very busy busy over here, it's a wonder I get any knitting done.
This is what woke me up at 5 this morning:
The waves have been booming out there for a few hours now.
Luckily on Saturday it was nice and calm....I went snorkeling in a little cove only accessible by climbing down over really rough lava rock. Should I mention that I was barefoot? I need to invest in some booties and different fins....that way I can climb over crazy lava rock with abandon...Ha!
So at any rate, I went with a friend...we had never snorkeled or been swimming together...as we walked up to this cove, she turned and remembered that we had never discussed how comfortable I am in the water...ha ha ha ha ha. Good time to ask me as I am looking over the 15 foot drop to some good sized waves crashing on the little area where we are planning to enter the water.
I am very comfortable in the water, but not so comfortable with waves bumping bashing me around on the rocks. All ended well, no rock trauma, we dodged the waves on the way in and on the way out, so that part went well. The little cove was fabulous, we saw lots of turtles....one of them was really quite large, and one was pretty small. The small turtle was probably about 18 inches across his back...and the largest turtle was probably about 42 inches across his back. I am saying he, but I don't really know which gender I should apply. The really big turtle was in some pretty shallow water, complete with waves crashing on the reef, so I didn't get to close to that one. This is what the turtles look like:
